Negative Nancys

I just took a 24 hours away at the spa. It was great and just that simple time of letting my cortisone return to some sort of normal level was very much needed. My stress levels are high because I have a baby and a toddler, and run businesses - but more recently I’m taking every step I can to not get to stressed out about the small things that may usually have knocked me over the edge. (I read the book The Dose Effect and it’s been amazing!)
Today is a simple one.
Rage bait gets the clicks. My Laduca article has been read over 3000 times and since then I’ve been sent an influx of rage fuelled article titles that want me to rant or rage in writing to make a point. The Laduca article was probably more emotionally fuelled than most of the ones I’ve written, but even then it’s pretty neutral and sees both sides.
But other than the clicks or the likes what is rage bait getting us? Interaction for being cynical or depressive? Negatively moaning anonymously on social media, complaining, catastropsing the little things, creating TikTok’s that have negative connotations, writing indirect Facebook status’s, answering ‘how are you?’ with a negative or even just saying ‘oh the weathers gonna change’ - it’s all just a toxic cycle.
Constantly consuming negative information rewires your brains neuroplasticity, literally training your mind to seek out ‘threats’. The repetitive nature of this cycle increases stress and triggers mental fatigue, deeply affecting your mood, focus, and long-term health.
Once you notice it in others you just can’t stop.
This week. As we enter a new month, check yourself. What negativity are you breeding?
