Screen time

I just want to thank and be grateful for the fact those tweens and teens in dance classes (and those that dance - or any other hobby for that matter - for what seems like hours and hour after school) don’t spend their whole evenings on their phone.

Someone said to me the other day ‘aren’t you so worried about when Zura grows up the state of screen time on kids and how much the teenagers are on their phones’

I appeased them, as I don’t like getting into ‘mum’ politics and parenting conversations.

But, in all honesty no I’m not worried. I get the pleasure of spending 2-3 hours at a time (most nights a week) with teenagers who are working hard, dancing and practicing in the studio. They don’t bring their phones into class and they don’t go ask for them in the break. They just have found a hobby that means that those 3 hours that their screen time is zero.

I wanted to say ‘oh I cant wait for Zura to have had the chance to try so many different sports and activities to find one that she wants to spend hours doing’ but i didn’t I just said ‘it’s terrible isn’t it’.
